Prompt: Talk about a time when you had to write a poem, whether it was for an assignment, event, or special occasion. What was the writing process like for you, and were you proud of the finished product?

Prompt Response:  The writing process for writing a poem was bad. poems are so hard for me to understand. writing it reading it and trying to understand it it all just so confusing. I was not proud of the finished project and didn't get a good grade. That's one time I had to write a poem. Summary: I wasn't here  Reflection:  I wasn't here

Prompt: Today, we learned how to use clustering as a brainstorming strategy before responding to any writing prompt. Think about today’s practice. How did clustering help you generate ideas, examples, etc for the prompt? What part of the clustering process was most useful to you, and do you think you would use this strategy when planning an AP Lang essay? Explain.

Prompt Response:  clustering ideas helped me generate ideas. Because it helped sort my ideas. I think I would use this to help write my essay because it gets my thoughts straight. if I have my thoughts straight maybe it would help other people understand me better. The process that was most useful was connecting sub topics. Thats how I would use that strategies  Summary:I was not here  Reflection:  I was not here.

Prompt: Yesterday, you constructed a full AP Language argument essay. Think about the experience from beginning to end. What part of writing the essay was easiest for you, and what part was the most challenging? Why? What is one thing you would do differently on your next argument essay?

Prompt Response:  One part that was easy for me was thinking about my topics. This was easy because I didn't have to think that's hard about it and I was a normal topic. The hard part for me was if I was doing my evidence right. I was getting confused on what does it show, how does it matter, how does it connect back to the claim. One thing I would do differently is just write and not worry about how much time is on the clock. That is how my essay was for me. Summary: In class I really liked writing it and how fun it was. Reflection:   Writing the essay was scary but once I started it it was okay.

In “Missing Your People,” Tracy Brower explains the importance of belonging. Describe a time when you felt like you truly belonged. What created that feeling?

Prompt Response:   A time I felt like I truly belonged was at all star cheer. I felt like I belonged because I knew that that's what I wanted to do. I made so many friends and we went through hard times and good times and I just knew it was for me. I didn't realize how much I felt welcomes and belonged there till it was over. In the end that is a time I felt I truly belonged. Summary In class I wasn't here because I was sick  Reflection:  I was sick so I didn't come to class/ school.

Prompt: Select the vocabulary word from today that you think will be most useful to you in the future. Explain what the word means in your own words and describe a situation in which you could realistically use it.

Prompt Response:  The word I would use is stentorian.  I think I will use this word in the future because it's just a more complex way to say extremely loud things. I feel like I could use this if Im trying to tell a story to my boss and I want to sound professional. This is why I would use stentorian. That is how I would use the word and why I would use it in the future. Summary: in class we did vocab words  Reflection:   I wrote a lot of sentences and did exercises for vocabulary.

Think about your practice with the “So What?” method today. What is one thing you understand about commentary now that you did not fully understand before? How will you apply it when writing your next AP Lang argument?

Prompt Response:  The so what method helped me so much. One thing I understand about the commentary is that it needs to support what I'm saying but I can't repeat anything. Something I didn't understand before was how to put it into a sentence form but now I understand. I will apply it to my AP Lang argument by restarting the claim giving evidence and then saying how that all connects back to the claim. That is one thing I understand and how I'm going to use it in my argument.  Summary: In class we read other claims and evidence and connected it all together. Reflection:  I really liked what we did because it helped me fully understand what I needed to do.

After reviewing and scoring other AP Language argument essays, identify two important takeaways that you can apply to your own writing. Explain what you learned about claims, evidence, commentary, the “so what?” explanation, or the AP rubric. Use specific observations from the essays you reviewed. Write one complete paragraph.

Prompt Response:  Two important take away I can use after reviewing the scoring of other AP Lang arguments is not to worry too much. I don't need to focus on how many sentences I have. and I need to make sure that I need to have a thesis statement. claims evidence and commentary is important because that's how you get a solid base for your essay. If you don't have evidence to support your claim you wont get your full amount of points. That is two take away I can use. and I just need to keep reviewing the rubric so I don't forget anything. Summary: In class we went over writable and examples of arguments.  Reflection:  we had to write how many points each person would get using the rubric.

Prompt: Some students look at a rubric only after receiving their grade, while others use it as a guide while completing the assignment. Which approach do you usually take? After reviewing the AP Lang Argument Essay rubric today, explain how you could use the rubric as a roadmap to improve your argument writing.

Prompt Response:  I usually take the second route. I use the rubric while doing the assignment. I could use the road map to improve my writing by knowing what exactly I need. I know that If I use the rubric I will most likely get a better grade without it. That is how I would use the rubric. Summary:in class we went over unpopular opinions. Reflection:  I wrote how I don't like the movies and how I'm going to turn it into an essay.

Think about a time when you completed an assignment without fully understanding what the teacher was looking for. How might knowing the “ins and outs” of a rubric change the way you approach an assignment? Connect your experience to what you learned today about the AP Lang Argument Essay rubric.

Prompt Response:  A rubric might change the way I approach an assignment because it will better help me understand what the teacher is looking for in my work. It helped me understand what exactly I need to put in my AP Lang essay argument. I know if I have all the information I will get a good grade. But It also helps me understand that if it's not in the correct order slightly I can still get points. This is how a rubric can help me. Summary: In class we went over a rubric. Reflection:  we highlighted the parts we need to know about the rubric.

When COVID 19 happened I had online school and had to use zoom and I got  a terrible grade on a math test and my parents said enough you need help. luckily my neighbor lady let me go to her house while my parents worked. so she helped me learn because I could not do it on my own I was in 5th grade. Prompt: Think of a time when you or someone you know used informal language in a situation where formal language may have been more appropriate. What happened? Looking back, what could have been said differently, and what did the situation teach you about choosing your words carefully?

Prompt Response:   A time someone used informal language was when I was talking to my dads boss. Formal language probably should have been more appropriate because if I talk to my parents with respect. so then I should definitely talk to my dad's boss formally. Nothing happened but I just think I should watch how I carry myself. The situation just taught me to watch what I say. That is a time I used informal information when I should have used formal. Summary: In class we read everyone's paragraphs. Reflection:  We got to comment on what they could have done better.

Prompt: Working with others can expose you to ideas or perspectives you may not have considered on your own. What is one idea, suggestion, or approach from a group member that improved your paragraph or changed the way you thought about the argument? Explain how it helped you.

Prompt Response:  One thing that improved our writing from a group member is when Hannah said its not just about handmade cards. if she wouldn't have said that it probably would have made our arguments a lot weaker. WE also wouldn't have been able to finish because we were stuck on just handmade cards. So that really helped us over come that hump. That is how a group member changed the argument. Summary: in class we did group work. Reflection:  we did group work on store bought cards are a cop out.

Prompt: Today, we learned how writers create a clear line of reasoning by connecting a claim, evidence, commentary, and conclusion. Which part of building an argument is most challenging for you, and why?

Prompt Response:  Evidence is always the hardest part. There are just so many rules for it and its the one that takes the longest and the most detail. Sometimes You make us do it a certain way and then I get all confused. So that's why I picked my reasoning. And that's the part of building that is challenging for me. Summary: we did a group work in class. Reflection:  over the steps of reasoning.

Prompt: Write about something you’ve always been curious about.

Prompt Response:  Something I've always been curious about is who decided we should eat carrots. Like did they just see some roots and then an orange thing in the ground and say let me try it. That is so random. Like why did people think it was a good idea. Also like what if it is old have killed someone. That is something I've always been curious about.  Summary:In class we learned about more in depth claim and how to back it up.
